The world within the mirror appears to exist, yet it is only the reflection of light. In a similar way, the existence of deities remains unverified, sustained through belief rather than evidence.
In this work, the statues are covered with mirrors. In attempting to encounter their presence, the viewer is met only with their own reflection. The space behind the shrine—and what lies beyond the deities—remains unknown.
What can be affirmed, however, is the image that returns from the mirror: the self, as a visible and immediate form of existence.
